Senior Pet Care - Portland, OR & Surrounding Cities
Watching your dog grow old and experience declining health is hard enough. Having to leave them in someone else's care, wondering whether they'll receive the same love, patience and understanding you give them, makes it even harder.
My college dog, Brodie, was my first experience caring for a dog through old age. His health began declining in 2024 after having a cancerous lump removed. I knew our time together was becoming limited. In 2026, I had to say goodbye. I still miss him terribly. He was my everything.
Managing his health toward the end wasn't easy, but I'd made a commitment to him when he was a puppy, and I intended to honor it until the very end.
I've been fortunate to care for many senior dogs whose families faced similar challenges. I always tell people, nothing fazes me. Incontinence, accidents, medical conditions, unpleasant discharge—none of it changes how I see or care for a dog.
Our dogs depend on us, especially when they're most vulnerable. They've given us years of unconditional love. The least we can do is return it.
It's never gross to me. It's never a burden. I understand. And that's why I'm here.
