Science + Emotional Intelligence
Doggywalkie combines science, emotional intelligence and continuity of care to understand the individual dog.
My obsession with understanding dogs started before I even had one.
When I was a kid, I desperately wanted a dog. My parents told me that if I wanted one, I needed to learn about dogs first. So I started reading. And I never really stopped.
What began as a kid trying to prove she was ready for her first dog became a lifelong curiosity about animals—how they think, communicate, learn, feel and experience the world around them.
Today, that curiosity shapes the way I care for every animal I meet.
I believe great pet care requires both knowledge and emotional intelligence: understanding the science while also having the patience, empathy and awareness to pay attention to the individual animal in front of you.
Loving animals is the beginning. Understanding them takes work.
Doing What I Love
Presence matters to me.
I love having the time to actually learn an animal—their personality, routines, body language, preferences and all the weird little things that make them them.
That's one reason Doggywalkie stays intentionally personal. Familiarity gives me the opportunity to understand your pet more deeply over time.
Always Learning
The best care starts with an open mind and a daily desire to learn.
Behavior. Health. Genetics. Communication. Learning theory. Aging. Breed tendencies. New research. The more we learn about animals, the more our understanding evolves—and I believe our care should evolve with it. Research provides information. Experience provides context. You bring years of knowledge about your own pet. And your pet is constantly communicating, too.
All of it matters.
Love at Every Stage
Getting older or becoming sick doesn't make an animal any less themselves.
Cancer, dementia, chronic illness, mobility changes and other age-related challenges can make care more complicated—but these are often the times when patience, dignity and genuine affection matter most. Medication and care instructions are important.
So is continuing to see the animal underneath them.
High Attunement
Animals notice more than we sometimes realize—movement, tone, body language, routines and changes in the people and environment around them.
That's why calm, attentive care matters to me.
I make space in my own life to reset through nature, art, reading, journaling and quiet so I can show up present and ready to pay attention.
Tell Me Everything.
You know your pet in a way nobody else does.
I want to know what makes them comfortable, what makes them nervous, what their weird habits mean, what isn't normal for them and what you've learned from living alongside them.
I'd rather ask than assume.
You know your pet. I'm listening.
