Portland, we need to talk about our priorities. We have some of the best craft beer in the country, an impressive obsession with good food, and dogs who somehow manage to convince us they haven't eaten in three days. So naturally, combining all three sounds like a pretty fantastic way to spend an afternoon.

Whether you're a dog mom who loves a fruity sour, a dog dad who takes his IPAs very seriously, or a couple who can't agree on dinner but can absolutely agree on bringing the dog, this one's for you.

I've rounded up all the dog-friendly breweries I could find around Portland where you can enjoy everything from Detroit-style pizza and smoky BBQ tacos to Mexican food, wood-fired pies, and a proper pint. Some have sprawling beer gardens, others have cozy patios, and a few even let your four-legged drinking buddy join you inside.

And because I'm a dog person, not a beer critic, I'm especially interested in the places where the dogs get treated like VIPs.

Northwest Portland & The Pearl District

1. Cycle Dog Tavern — Slabtown

10 Barrel brings that classic lively brewpub energy, with favorites like its Apocalypse IPA and a full menu of hearty food.

The Pearl District location has been known for its spacious outdoor seating, and visiting pups have reportedly enjoyed special water bowls and even occasional pup patties.

A pup patty? Excuse me, somebody's getting the deluxe treatment.

4. Little Beast Brewing — Division Street

Little Beast feels less like a brewery and more like you've been invited to someone's lovely garden party.

Housed in a charming Craftsman-style home, it's known for farmhouse ales, fruit-forward wild beers, and complex barrel-aged creations. The lush patio is a wonderful setting for a slower afternoon.

This is where I'd go when I want something a little different from my usual drink and enough time to actually enjoy it.

Your dog can join you outside, preferably while looking adorable and pretending not to notice your food.

5. Lucky Labrador Brew Pub — Hawthorne

A brewery named after a dog? Well, obviously we're going.

Lucky Labrador is a longtime Portland favorite with a wonderfully casual atmosphere, house-brewed ales, and hearty pizza. No fancy dress code, no complicated plans. Just good beer, good food, and dogs.

Honestly, sometimes that's all you need.

The outdoor patio welcomes leashed pups, so bring your favorite human, order a pizza, and let the weekend begin.

That's one of Assembly Brewing's specialties, along with approachable IPAs and lagers. It's a casual, spacious pub with outdoor tables where well-behaved dogs can join you. Bring someone hungry. Actually, bring several hungry people. This feels like a pizza-sharing situation. Just don't let your dog negotiate for the crust.

It's a fun combination for anyone who appreciates a good match, a cold pint, and something hearty to eat. Your pup can join you on the outdoor patio, although I can't promise they'll understand the offside rule.

Level Beer is known for its expansive, park-like beer garden, rotating food trucks, and relaxed group-friendly atmosphere. There are grassy outdoor areas where leashed dogs can relax while the humans sample beer and browse the food options.

It's a fun choice when you want plenty of space and don't feel like squeezing everyone around a tiny table.

It's a great excuse to spend a little longer outside before heading home.

19. The Civic Taproom — Goose Hollow

Located near Providence Park, The Civic Taproom is a relaxed neighborhood spot with rotating craft beers, ciders, and a bottle shop. Outside food is welcome, which means you can grab something delicious nearby and bring it along.

And unlike many breweries where dogs are restricted to the patio, well-behaved, leashed pups have reportedly been welcome inside.

Now that's what I call a proper drinking buddy.

Before You Order That Second Pint...

A quick word from the dog walker in me.

I love seeing dogs included in their families' adventures. But breweries can be noisy, crowded, and full of unfamiliar smells, people, and other dogs.

Some pups love that kind of environment. Others? Not so much.

If your dog is anxious, reactive, sensitive to noise, or uncomfortable around unfamiliar dogs, a busy brewery patio might not be their idea of a good time.

Choose quieter hours, give your dog plenty of personal space, and pay attention to signs of stress. Bring fresh water, keep them safely leashed, and never pressure them into meeting other dogs.

And please, no beer for the pups. Alcohol is toxic to dogs, and their idea of a good time should involve water, appropriate treats, and maybe a nice nap.

The best outing is one where everyone is comfortable, including the dog.
